After Enlightenment...uh..... now what ?

After we achieve our Life Lesson and our chosen Destiny for this life, we cross over.  So really, what is the rush.  It is a bit of conundrum that we have this Western culture desire to achieve a goal of enlightenment and then we die. This is like rushing through a vacation  and obsessing if we are "doing it right"  (what ever that means, as we each are completely different people on our own individual journey) so we can get onto the .... next.... what ? Vacation? Job? Lover?

With music, art, great food, lovemaking, we participate in these so we can be engaged and engulfed in a full, all consuming, memorable experience, not an end result. One of the reasons people enjoy doing something very physical, or demanding in some fashion (including creating crises or drama in our lives), is because a challenge (or crises) demands our full attention. It forces us to be completely present, completely engaged and this allows us to immerse our self in enjoying or engaging in the task at hand. We become absolutely present in each step, savoring it, with no time for the mind to comment or criticize. In reality, we cannot live at a high level of adrenaline challenges daily without getting sick (lupus, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel, alcoholism, etc).  We can however, learn to be so fully engaged in each moment of life that we no longer seek to escape (alcohol, drugs, obsessions etc.)  or rush towards an end result.

We do this through Mindfulness. Not an easy practice in this era, in this culture with social media overload. With Mind Full -ness we slow down enough to notice .... everything.....  Texture, smell, our heartbeat, the nuances. Often achieved with drug use..... we humans crave the experience of noticing everything that our five physical senses can offer us. Rather than seek out sensations as an addict or as an escape, we can seek them out as part of our Mindfulness practice.  We can start by noticing how we breathe, the smell and texture of the air, of food. The feel of clothes on our skin.  As we start to master these sensations, our Mindfulness practice will expand to reveal to us our emotional reactions, thoughts we are having, and because time has been slowed down, alternate choices will start to be Revealed to us because there is now Space in us to hear Spirit and our Higher Self.  When we rush.... we miss much. Like being on a bullet train, it is hard to enjoy the scenery, in fact you cannot even see the scenery.

Many people are very Spiritual, even Gifted as psychics, healers etc. However, these same people are often having a miserable personal life. Being Gifted or Spiritual  has no relationship to a wonderful quality of life. Often Spiritual people are busy helping others or managing their public profile on social media, and in the process, are neglecting their own life journey. Like a garden needs daily tending to thrive, people who wish to enjoy their life need to tend to the Self .....daily. Personal Practice needs to become a habit, like brushing your teeth.

If you want to have Spirit in your life, if you want more joy, Guidance, serenity.....make Mindfulness your daily practice. Post reminders on the fridge, in the car, on the mirrors, until this becomes a habitual part of your life. Then watch for the Miracles to become a daily part of your life as well.

Journey On.
