Surrender is not depression

Surrender is such a strange action for Westerners that at first it can feel like the onset of depression. Non-action as an action is not a precedent for success in the "go get it" culture of the modern industrialized nations. We Westerners are not used to the concept of surrender. We can confuse it with giving up, and that is a depressing thought to the Nike generation of "No Fear, Just Do It".  Yet giving up is grand !  We give up smoking, we "give it up" applauding a talent, we give it  up when we stop obsessing about something. Giving up is a clearing out, an opening, an invitation for one thing to leave and creating the room for something else to enter. It is a brave gesture, and act of generosity, and one of faith -- faith that there is something better for us just around the corner.

Surrender is the ecstatic stimulation of the heart and crown chakras. Our current energy patterns collapse creating a vacuum, a powerful energetic opening that demands fulfillment. Spirit is summoned as a vacuum cannot be filled quickly enough or fully enough by the human mind. Our defenses are down, our filters discombobulated and we are, for moments, "tabula rasa" -- a blank slate. A rare opportunity for brand new, never before experienced energies to flow in unhindered by our typically over zealous mind.

Surrender is exhilarating, depression is not. Surrender takes us into new landscapes, depression cycles us back through old, bleak familiar thoughts.  While surrender can shake our balance for a bit, ultimately we become lighter. Depression is a giving up that gives us ever increasing weight, an  unwelcome anchor. Surrender is a bit of a hang glide. A little bit scary, but also quite fun, full of movement (although often internal), and always brings a change of scenery..... for the better.

Breathe into your life. If you feel a weight, let go. Glide on the wings of surrender and let Spirit take you to places you can not manifest because your current brain could not possibly imagine those places that Spirit has planned for you.
