On Being "Special"

We love out pets. Every single one of them is  "special." They literally make our day. There is nothing more ecstatic then the purring of a cat, or more entrancing then standing next to beloved horses and feeling their sacred breath and energies surround us. My pets literally light up each day. Dogs laying on the lawn with all four feet in the air. My cat purring next to them. Sometimes we all lay in the sand together.... the two horses, two dogs and the ranch manager Mateo the kitty. We meditate together, sun bathe, and sigh. So happy and content. I swear we could cure anyone who walks into this circle of energetic radiance we have in the sand pit. You get the picture don't you ? So simple yet so powerful....... and yes.... Special....... every time, every moment I spend in the joyous energy of my pets is special. I never get sick of it or tired, or bored.

Yet we humans go crazy trying to be "Special" in some indefinable way.  We fret over our Karma, our Mission, our "Gifts" or spiritual talents. We are sad because we are disappointed in our lives, in our selves (as if we are judge and jury of our Life Path).  Many spiritual seekers are indeed animal lovers and nature lovers. In fact many love animals more than humans. Still we cannot accept the beauty these moments with animals or nature as "good enough" when it comes to ourselves. It is our ego that insists we need to be more, do more.

If only we could bring as much joy and playfulness into the world as our pets ~! If it were so easy to do, we would all be doing it, all day..... no ?  Isn't it enough to be as special as each of our pets are in our lives ?  Can't we aim to give as much to the world as dogs do when they wag their tail ?  Of course this is an energy we cannot "fake" by "being positive" as the New Age/Feel Good industries promote.  Dogs do not wag their tail to be or act positive. They wag their tails because they ARE in a good place. (Yes some wag their tail out of fear etc but we can tell the difference).

Be special-- to your self, to your immediate surroundings including friends, neighbors, family. Be authentically special. Faking positivity means to betray your Self.  We ARE special. We are a "pet" to an Angel, to our Guardian Spirit, to our Higher Self. Now if we could only be as special to our own self. If we could only make our self as happy as our pets make us happy-- that would be quite an accomplishment.
