Raised to be compliant

Raised to be compliant Schools mainly teach you to memorize and comply.   Education is built for efficiency these days. Move them in, move them out, no child left behind forces teachers to comply to keep their jobs and meet quotas because school scores and attendance need to be kept up in order to fulfill accreditation and continue to receive funding.   It is no one person’s fault. The education system is severely outdated and needs a complete overhaul.  Furthermore busy parents with no real education in excellent parenting also get caught up in compliance more than teaching age appropriate behaviors.   More and more busy parents rely on the school system to teach the behavioral and emotional skills that used to be learned at home.   The culture of our educational system has produced people that are geared towards “shut up” and “get it done” which means not asking questions, not bringing up problems or trouble shooting potential problems before they migh...

Victims and True Feelings

Victims and True Feelings What is the difference between being a victim and feeling like a victim?   One is identifying as a victim and making decisions from that base as a way of life. The other is going into the wounds of whatever happened to you where you were a victim, feeling those feelings, exploring them, processing them and allowing them to be released, taken from you all as a part of the journey of healing. What healing looks like: Waking Up, coming out of denial. You finally admit you were hurt, abused, abandoned, raped, lied to, robbed, beaten up and that yes, it hurt. Yes there was terrible fear and a loss of self, a loss of faith, depression, anxiety, and so much more. This stage is shocking and hurts. Your ego is demolished as you finally “cave into” the realizations and emotions that emerge as you face the truth about what happened to you instead of minimizing it, explaining it away, or muscling through it. Grieving, raging and learning You will i...

The Art of Teaching

The study of language (linguistics) reflects the culture, the mindset and priorities of the people. How a people perceive life, their priorities, the flow of time, concepts of love, and spirituality can be discovered by looking at the form and content of a people’s language. The USA is filled with diversity and even though the main language is English, cultural factors influence the use and understanding of language and patterns of speaking and learning.   In mainstream America the primary use of language is based on white Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) the culture of the primary invaders of America and what can also be referred to as the “middle-class” economic group. (Remember this is a very short article so this is the readers’ digest version of   some very profound socio-economic knowledge base).   Other ethnicities living in the USA that have moved into the lifestyle of the middle class (and above) did so by   learning to adopt and use the mainstream language...

How to Help Others without Your Ego Being in Charge

How to Help Others without Your Ego Being in Charge Once again this is a big subject, and in reality an article is absolutely no substitute for having a mentor or Teacher guide you.   Typically, even with people I work with, people continue the same ego driven behaviors over and over not catching it because they can’t catch it without practice and guidance from someone who can help them catch the nuances of slipping back into ego dominated behaviors. In other words, one workshop (or so called certification), reading some articles or books, and then practicing on your own typically will not give you success in change. As Einstein said, you cannot solve problems with the same mind (read mindset, paradigm, consciousness, level of awareness) that created the problem in the first place. This is why people go to 12 Step meetings, therapy, support groups or work with a mentor, Guru, Teacher, to get viewpoints, input, suggestions, guidance, from other people who are also on a Journ...
