Attention and Attitude II

Attention and Attitude II

Living life as an Awakened Being is a different kind of life than that of muggles (what I used to call mundanes, pre-Harry Potter). Some of us are here to be drug addicts, others millionaires, others moms, or pimps. By the time we leave earth we will have experienced everything. You never know where people are in their Soul development based on earth plane circumstances.  Many leave the hardest classes for last and are Advanced Souls here, looking like addicts or whores. This doesn’t mean you allow people to rob you or take advantage of you because you think they might be Advanced Souls. It does mean don’t be quick to judge others, but more importantly don’t judge yourself. Do keep your eye on what matters….. your evolution and your Journey.

What does that mean, keep your eye on your Journey? It means that no matter what you are going through, drug addiction, obsessions, depression, success….your focus (where you place your Attention) defines the quality of your Journey. It is not what you are doing that matters, but rather how you are doing your Journey. The TV personality billionaire Christian Ministers are not necessarily good Christians. Why? Look at the how of their Journey. You can meet a drug addict (and you never know why s/he became an addict, the circumstances) or a homeless person and learning their Journey discover a reverent person with a difficult Life Path. You cannot simply look at the behavior of people, behaviors can be faked, but rather look at where people place their Attention. Where they place their Attention is the heart of their Soul. A positive attitude is no measure either as having a positive attitude can be easily faked.

What is Attention and Attitude? As an Awakened Being, the challenge is to always remember you are a Soul. The separation of Mind and Soul that occurs when you incarnate forces you to choose where to place your Attention. Choose the Mind and you forget you are a Soul. You lose touch with your Guidance leaving only the limitations of the human mind to solve problems and pursue lower body addictions (food, sex, ambitions, etc.). Affirmations, ignoring problem, denying feelings, or muscling through life’s challenges have nothing to do with choosing where to place your Attention. Those practices are all patches on a leaking boat. Choose Soul, you are connected to the Divine that will then in turn be able to Guide you through your chosen Life Path. When one is coming from Soul, lower body addictions drop off. This does not mean one lives an austere life. It means you are free to enjoy all that a human life has to offer while staying balanced, and obsessions and addictions no longer rule your life.

Part of your free will here on earth, and your Evolution is to choose Soul….. or not. It is one of the basic challenges of incarnation. Guided meditations, Yoga classes, Tai Chi, Sound Baths, crystal healings, energy work and all the other wonderful practices available can make you stronger and eventually strong enough for you to pursue the discipline of where to place your Attention. And you need to get strong to have the ability to choose Soul. You can only hear Guidance by learning to listen in Sacred Silence which is ever present. You need skill and discipline to Listen for the Divine as the distractions of earth are constantly pulling at you, demanding and seducing your Attention. At Life Path Healings we practice bringing our focus back from distractions, learning to Hear the Sacred Guidance. Meditation is done to learn to overcome distractions by consciously choosing where you place your Attention. We do not meditate to escape life’s distractions or problems. Life Path Healings meditation practice is meant to teach you how to bring meditation energies into Life so you can access Guidance even in the middle of divorce court.

Placing your Attention on Soul shifts your Attitude. This is not positive thinking or some other superficial technique. Focusing Attention is a mature skill that can only be developed with practice. When you remember you are Soul you hear Guidance and you solve your problems from a completely different perspective. You still have emotions; however they no longer overwhelm you, possess you, or drive you. Now they are part of the Earth Journey that can be experienced in a balanced manner and be used as lessons. Your Attitude always follows where your focus your Attention and most people are completely oblivious as to where they are placing their Attention throughout the day. One way you can catch your current habits is to tune in throughout your day to notice what your Attitude is. If your Attitude is angry, frozen feelings, sad, forced happy, etc., you can bet that your Attention is not currently placed on Soul and the constant Guidance and Solace that is offered by the Divine. Noticing your Attitude, then choosing to shift your Attention can become your discipline, and with practice can become good habit.

What is life like when you cultivate and develop Spiritual discipline to focus Attention and Attitude? Imagine a young child goes to the circus with her parents. She is content, feels safe and guided while enjoying all that is going on around her. She sees so many things that delight her, some acts are scary, others thrilling. She is surrounded by people but none are threatening and she feels content and safe, free to experience everything with no fear.  Suddenly she notices she has lost track of her parents. Finding herself alone, she is filled with panic and fear. Nothing has changed at the circus, only her Attention has shifted. She now feels alone, and lost, and starts making panicked decisions getting her more lost and more miserable. This is you with Spirit. Connected, you feel (your Attitude) safe enough to experience all that life has to offer, all of it.  Disconnected, your entire Attitude (and therefore your decisions, priorities, problem solving skills, etc) changes. You have to decide to keep your Attention on Spirit or you will be lost and will live your life from a completely different perspective. Spirit cannot force you to stay connected; you have to choose it, over and over again as life’s distractions will constantly pull your Attention in different directions.

Journey On.
