Modern Shamanism-- to Bling or not to Bling

In this historical time period, most people in the industrialized world are zoned out and shut down. Social media, sugar, over work, over stimulated,  tuned out. With so much sensory over load most people have lost the ability to feel energy and this makes "bling" very appealing in the New Age/Metaphysical/Motivational industry.  If one cannot feel energy or touch the other side, one turns to advertising and the promise of promises, grandiose results and spectacular evolutionary leaps simply by paying good money, hopefully in a gorgeous setting.  The reality is people are guided to find and choose a Healer that is at the level of development they can currently handle. It makes sense that at this time there is a plethora of "healers" in circulation that have been "certified" with some super quick expensive program (the same is sadly true  these days with yoga teachers).  No  personal development or talent required. Just a willingness to pay and a desire for title. And typically these "just add water and stir healers" have gone into business either to make money or to offset their own personal wounds by working on others rather than working on themselves-- and sometimes for both reasons and usually all of this occurring on an unconscious level.

I have had a few astounding Teachers. They are rare. My current Teacher has been in the USA since 1985 and is amazing. In all these decades, there are still no books, dvds, or certifications available. The retreats have 20 people, the classes 40 at most. True Teachers are not in high demand in the commercial market. And learning via physical attendance and participation is on the down low. I have never been able to duplicate personal experiences with my Teacher in any webinar, teleconference or mass conference.  Perhaps I am just old fashioned, but I think not.

Shamans, healers, medicine women, mystics, have always been locals. Each village or region had their Healer. Healers and medicine people were Chosen and initiated via Sacred Signs, not via the ability to pay for certification. Often the person Chosen resisted until Spirit caused enough mischief to make it clear that "no thank you" was not an acceptable answer (there are many humorous tales about these occurrences).

There is no way to market energy. If the person cannot feel the Energies offered by a Healer, it is not a good match at that time. However Bling is reigning supreme. Many modern healers (mainstream and alternative) have been taught to develop and present a great "rap."  Amazing verbal presentations along with a splashy dog and pony show are the norm now including with animal communicators,  mediums, psychics, life coaches, yoga teacher, and more. Coupled with the great rap are sophisticated comebacks that if you do not get with the program, or if the program/service has not worked, it is because there is something wrong with you!!  And of course participating more ($$$) will fix you.  Scientology is one of the more famous versions of this paradigm, but even small timers have been taught to take this approach and sadly the practioners actually believe what they are telling you. They have been taught this approach in their certification program.  Sigh.

Bling promises are like cocaine. The promise of a high that will make your life better. And like coke, promises are a quick rush and often addictive.  Look beyond the words, especially when promises are in the presentation.  I still prefer to study in person. Like love making, yes you can do it virtually, but it is nowhere near the same experience as the human touch of your beloved.  When looking to have  a session with someone, or to take classes, search for the deep energy (if there is any !) in the person and then the mix or blend of your energetic self with their energetic self.  Then  pray for guidance, and wait for an answer or a sign, not for Bling.

Namaste
