Everything

Some days, when awakened by my Ranch Manager Mateo (the tiger tom cat) who has decided that I have slept way too long (5 minutes past the beginnings of the sun to  yawn over the horizon), I open my eyes to marvel at the beauty of the lines of fur around his infinite eyes. I feel my bones healing from the vibrations of his purr and then the satin of the sheets sliding across my skin as I move to accommodate His Majesty, feeling the exquisite softness of his fur. It is at these times I am absolutely convinced that there is a purpose to life, that there is a Creator and that having a body is so completely worth it. For the moment.

As the day crashes in (truck breaks, dryer dies, pail full of gallons of horse poop cracks open, and so on) there is a tendency want to excavate a rabbit hole and dive in. Retreat from this life. From the culmination of these kinds of moments. That is, until the wind brushes my skin, a horse whisker blesses my neck, and one of my ever present Angels whispers in my ear......"Everything.....Life is..... Everything."

In consummate dining, a chef creates a miracle of savory sybaritic experiences. Layer upon layer of explosive spicy, sour, sweet, salty, crunchy, soft, all to seduce the soft palate, the inner walls of the mouth, and finally to dwell on the tongue while beautifully perfuming the face . If one eats slowly, these layers roar across one's senses and transport us to fervid even ecstatic state. For the moment.

Life Is Everything. Big Mac Chili Fries, the subtle beauty of a gourmet epicurean presentation, and everything in between. We are given a menu, everyday. And what we choose and what we choose to focus on and pay attention too, gives us Moments. In turn those Moments make up our days, and the days our years and so on. We do not control the menu once we are here. We make those choices before we come, when we are with our Spiritual/Angelic Elders and we are incarnated as our Higher Self with a bigger perspective than when in a body here... full of desires.

While supposedly knowing this information is easy, the practice of actually choosing Moments..... not so much. We sometimes even forget there is a menu of choices.  Choice--- to savor the waking with Mateo, or brush him aside to get on with the day. Choice.... to get mad at all the incidents, or stop, laugh, breathe, eat a glorious apple and then handle each moment of the day, good or supposedly bad, with Mindfulness knowing that every Moment affects us, changes us, opens us..... or closes us.

Meditation, daily practice, exponentially strengthens our inner radar and our ability to make finer "dining" choices. For the moment. And after all, that is what Everything Is.... Moments.   Namaste
