Inventory Practices I recommend to everyone once they are at a certain level of Spiritual Development are inventory and amends.   The first time you do an inventory it is like spring cleaning. You go through your house and look at everything, look into every box. Memories and feelings will come up. You will have to consider what to keep for now, what to throw out, and typically make decisions regarding better lifestyle choices based on your self-examination. The first go round is a big job.   Once done, now your house is cleaner, with a ton more space! More space for Spirit to come in as well. You breathe easier and hopefully you will decide to never let this kind of clutter   build up for so long, ever again.   Now you begin to clean up your space daily, in small doses, like brushing your teeth. Now that you are Spiritual, are you happy? Living life whole

Jack Kornfield has a great book title….. after the ecstasy, the laundry.   In some ways discovering all your faults or even your self-loathing is more exciting and engaging than being “okay.”   Discovery and recovery can be captivating and motivating even with the pain or despair that often accompanies that part of the journey. Living life, at least somewhat whole, that can be a challenge especially if you grew up in a dysfunctional family and even more especially if you have chosen to live an awakened life and not fill yourself up with distractions of modern day life (Facebook, gaming, drugs, alcohol, prescription meds that aren’t yours, Ecstasy, mushrooms, etc etc etc).   Like the field of psychology, many wounded people are drawn to Spirituality (more so even to the New Age industry). In psychology, most people are not expecting to be “cured” but rather are hoping to get some relief from emotional pain and perhaps to be more functional in life.   With Spirituality however, many
